Position Summary
SSL.com is seeking a hands-on Controller to run day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, and financial reporting, including our international accounts. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller executes the monthly close, maintains the integrity of the general ledger, and produces accurate, timely financial statements. This is an individual contributor role in a lean finance team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and fixed asset and prepaid schedules.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for the CFO.
- Perform accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing, including international customer and vendor accounts and multi-currency transactions.
- Manage cash operations across domestic and international bank accounts, including reconciliations and payment processing.
- Maintain internal controls over financial reporting; coordinate annual audits and external tax preparers, including sales tax compliance.
- Improve and document accounting processes; support budgeting and forecasting as directed by the CFO.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for monthly close and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with multi-currency transactions and international accounts.
- Strong proficiency with accounting, AP/AR, and payroll/HRIS systems and advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work hands-on in a lean team environment.
- Ability to work on-site at our Houston, TX office.

- Public accounting experience.
- Experience in multi-state and international payroll.
- Experience in a technology, SaaS, or subscription-based business.
- Experience implementing or upgrading accounting systems and internal controls.

Working Conditions
This position is performed on-site at SSL’s Houston, TX office during standard business hours, with extended hours as needed during close, audit, and year-end periods. The role is primarily performed in an office environment.
