Our Story
Founded in 2002, SSL.com is a globally trusted certificate authority providing digital certificates and PKI solutions to secure online communications, applications, and digital content. The company serves individuals, enterprises, and organizations across over 180 countries with comprehensive certificate services, including SSL/TLS, code signing, email security, and document signing certificates. SSL.com maintains WebTrust audit compliance and participates as a full voting member of the CA/Browser Forum.
2002 – Company Founded
SSL.com was established in Houston, Texas as a trusted certificate authority, beginning its mission to provide digital certificates and PKI solutions with a focus on cutting-edge security and five-star customer service.
2017 – CA/Browser Forum Full Voting Membership
SSL.com became a full voting member of the CA/Browser Forum on August 3, 2017, after joining as an associate member in October 2016. This milestone marked SSL.com’s ability to actively participate in ballot voting and help shape industry policies for SSL/TLS and digital certificate standards.
2018 – NAESB Authorized Certification Authority Accreditation
SSL.com was approved as a NAESB Authorized Certification Authority (ACA) on August 1, 2018, becoming one of only four ACAs meeting the stringent WEQ-012 PKI Business Practice Standards. This positioned SSL.com to serve the North American energy industry’s secure digital authentication needs.
2020 – Cloud Signature Consortium Executive Membership
SSL.com joined the Cloud Signature Consortium as an executive member on May 5, 2020, enabling the company to contribute meaningfully to global cloud-based digital signature standards development and support compliance with eIDAS and other international regulations.
2021 – eSigner Cloud Signing Platform Launch
SSL.com launched its eSigner cloud signing service in March 2021, becoming the only company offering a unified platform with both UI and API for remote document and EV code signing. This innovative solution eliminated the need for USB tokens or HSMs while maintaining FIPS compliance.
2025 – C2PA Trust List Certification
SSL.com joined the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Trust List as a conformant certificate authority in September 2025, positioning the company as a vital infrastructure provider for Content Credentials to combat digital misinformation and verify content authenticity.
